[1923 Harley 8-valve]
For the 1921 Dodge City race,  Harley-Davidson fielded a single example of their record-setting 8-valve alongside of their pocket-valve racers.  Ralph Hepburn, on the sole H-D 8-valve,  took the checkered flag to win the final Dodge City race.

Hepburn's winning time of 3 hours,  30 minutes and 3 seconds was a new record for a 300-mile dirt track event, and 10 minutes faster than  Jim Davis'  winning time for the previous year's race.
